SB9 – and the new responsibilities designated by the law to Building Officials

Barbara E Kautz, Goldfarb & Lipman LLP

Barbara E. Kautz is a partner with Goldfarb & Lipman LLP in Oakland. Her practice focuses on local land use, with an emphasis on housing-related legislation, including SB 9, the Housing Accountability Act, SB 35, density bonuses, and other recent changes to housing law. She has prepared SB 9 materials for the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) and local government clients. Prior to joining Goldfarb & Lipman, she worked as a planner and Community Development Director for Bay Area cities. She formerly served on the Boards of Directors for the League of California Cities and the California Chapter of the American Planning Association. Ms. Kautz received her law degree summa cum laude from the University of San Francisco, holds a Master of City Planning from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Stanford University.
