COST: $20.00 for LUNCH & REGISTRATION

PLEASE JOIN US FOR THE GENERAL MEETING, INDUSTRY REPORTS, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM, LUNCH AND CODE DISCUSSION

Would you like to increase your knowledge and understanding of the NEC?

Our meeting this month will cover the installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment (EVSE) and related infrastructure per Article 625 of the NEC.  Topics covered will include general installation requirements such as load calculations,  load management, existing service calculations, disabled access regulations (for commercial and MFD applications), metering, NEC-related issues, new CalGreen requirements, etc.  Everything you always wanted to know about EVSE installations but didn’t know to ask.  Effective July 1, 2015, CalGreen requires most new residential and non-residential construction to be “EV-ready”.  Also, Governor Brown has mandated that there be 1.5 million Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) on the road in California by 2025.  So this will be timely and relevant information.

Chargepoint manufactures their own EVSE equipment and are based in Campbell, CA.  They have extensive experience both in California and nationwide with the installation of EVSE networks and also  multi-family dwelling and commercial EVSE applications.

Come join us for this informative presentation!

We will also have general code discussion of the NEC, so bring your code questions and get them answered!

Soares Grounding and Bonding Seminar

Thursday, December 3, 2015

8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Veterans Memorial Hall

301 Main St, Pleasanton, CA 94566

Synopsis: Proper grounding and bonding is the foundation of any safe electrical installation.  For those eager to improve their skills in electrical grounding and bonding, the 2011 Soares Seminar on Grounding and Bonding is the seminar to attend.  How and why certain grounding methods are used will be explained in a logical way.  The accompanying text, Soares Book on Grounding and Bonding, is included in the cost of registration.  The book balances text with photos and illustrations and cuts through the confusion of industry jargon and common misconceptions, guiding the reader step-by-step through the language and intent of the 2011 National Electrical Code.

Instructors: Marv Millett is the retired Chief Electrical Inspector for the City of Oakland, where he worked for 25 years.  He was also an Electrical Plans Examiner and is a Journeyman Electrician.  He held the positions of IAEI Northern California Chapter, IAEI Southwestern Section President, and is currently the IAEI Northern California Chapter Representative to the Southwestern Section.

Mike Stone is the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) West Coast Field Representative since August 2012.  He is the alternate member representing NEMA on Code Making Panel 1 for the 2017 National Electrical Code.  He also serves as Vice Chair of the California Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical and Energy Code Advisory Committee for the CA Building Standards Commission.  Prior to his tenure with NEMA, he worked for over 25 years in California building departments at the County of Monterey and the Cities of Monterey, Salinas and, most recently, as Building Official for the City of Watsonville.  He is a Certified General Electrician in the State of California.
