\nThis course will address the challenges in enforcing local codes against dangerous buildings in occupied structures. The course will address the v arious codes that are available to enforcement officials and will look at alternative approaches to enforcement and abatement. The course will also present approaches to deal with practical issues that result from actions taken by local public agencies\, including positively engaging and educat ing the community\, addressing the needs of displaced residents\, and find ing ways to obtain compliance when property owners are absent or have comp lex personal issues.

He al so served as Director of the Office of Citizen Complaints for the Police C ommission of the City and County of San Francisco. Mr. Bayer has taught criminal law at San Jose State University and has taught at th e police academies in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. \nLearn abou t the new Lithium-Ion Energy Storage Systems (from Tesla\, LG and others) and their integration with photovoltaic (PV) systems\, rapid shutdown syst ems\, fire classification ratings\, and innovative mounting methods. How a re these products tested? What standards apply? How are these energy stora ge systems different from “old school” lead acid battery banks? Informatio n will be provided on the latest research\, codes\, and standards developm ent. Best methods will be shared for confirming code compliance\, as well as what to look for while designing\, plan checking\, and inspecting these systems.

Once those products are certified\, he and his team ensure that all PV and energy storage syst ems are installed in compliance with all applicable codes. They are active ly engaged with jurisdictions in 25 states. He chairs the UL 2703 Task Gro up on Manuals &\; Markings\, as well as the Solar Energy Industry Assoc iation’s AHJ Outreach Committee. Tesla Energy’s Compliance Team is committ ed to providing building and fire officials current and relevant education on all aspects of PV and energy storage by providing regular trainings at for fire departments\, ICC and IAEI chapters.
