You can valet park, pull up directly in front of the hotel & the valets will take your car & your keys or

You can self park - you can use the large parking lot across the street. You will need to pull a ticket to get through the parking gate, you need to hold on to the parking ticket & bring that with you to the banquet space. The Banquet server can validate that ticket for you.

Code Essentials - Accessibility (Tue. 13 Jun, 2017 8:00 am - 12:00 pm)

Eventbrite - 2016 California Building Code Chapters 11A & 11B

The class is designed to facilitate accessibility within our communities, and is an update of presentation for mandatory continuing Ed for Architects’ Licenses, given at the State Building in Oakland for the AIA.  Highlights of Accessible designs will demonstrate inspiring solutions for compliance with State of CA and Federal Accessibility code requirements.  The class will begin with navigation of the 2016 CA Building Code’s Chapter 11B.  The ADA (Public Accommodations) and ABA (Federal Facilities) standards will be reviewed.  CA Chapter 11B Tabs and Snacks will be distributed during two 10-15 minute breaks. An accessibility practice session will be included in the last 30 minutes. 

LUIHSW units are available as Learning Units for AIA.  This class is taught by an ICC Preferred Provider.

Instructor: Ally Watts, a CA Certified Access Specialist

Ally Watts, a CA Certified Access Specialist, intuitively incorporates accessibility into early stages of Architectural design for Public Accommodations, Educational and Civic facilities for city, state and federal jurisdictions.  She served the State of CA as Senior Architect for Accessibility Review, including service for the Disability Advisory Committee for the CA Department of General Services and for the revision to CA Building Code, Chapter 11B, for compliance with the stricter requirements of CBC and the current ADA Standards for Accessible Design.  She has served in the ICC as a voting member and local Chapter Treasurer, and as an ICC Plans Examiner.  She looks forward to sharing knowledge and enthusiasm for universal design with you.

Commercial Electrical Inspections

This course will cover the basics of commercial electrical inspections, including services, switchboards and panelboards, grounding and bonding, load calculations, lighting installations, motors, transformers and emergency systems.  Please don’t forget to bring your 2014 NEC or 2016 CA Electrical Code!

Instructors:

Joe Andre is a consultant to the Steel Tube Institute since April 2014.  He was the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) West Coast Field Representative for 12 years.  Prior to that he was an electrical inspector/assistant building official for the City of Bellevue, WA and an electrical inspector for the State of Washington.  He serves on Code Making Panel 5 for the 2017 NEC and was on CMP-1 for the 2011 and 2014 NEC cycles.  He served on the ICC Energy Conservation Code Committee for the 2009, 2012 and 2015 cycles.  He also serves on several Electrical Code Advisory Committees in Washington State.  He is an NEC instructor for NFPA and also an electrical apprenticeship instructor.  Joe is a Master Electrician in Washington State and has held numerous positions from journeyman, foreman, estimator, project manager to electrical contractor.  

Mike Stone is the NEMA West Coast Field Representative since August 2012.  He is the alternate member representing NEMA on Code Making Panel 1 for the 2017 National Electrical Code.  He also serves as Vice Chair of the Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical and Energy Code Advisory Committee for the CA Building Standards Commission.  Prior to his tenure with NEMA, he worked for over 25 years in California building departments at the County of Monterey and the Cities of Monterey, Salinas and, most recently, as Building Official for the City of Watsonville.  He holds seven ICC Certifications and is a Certified Access Specialist (CASp).  He has taught code classes at several CA Community Colleges and has been an IBEW electrical apprenticeship instructor.  Mike is a member of ICC, IAEI, IBEW and NFPA, and is a Certified General Electrician in the State of California.
